Childbirth Australia was formed in 2009 by a group of childbirth consumer advocates, who recognised the growing need in Australia for broadly based and well-referenced input from maternity-care consumer groups. These consumer advocates were quickly joined by researchers and supporters with experience in maternity service provision.
